World War II was a military conflict that involved most of the world’s nations. One of the causes was the rise of dictatorship of Hitler’s country. The course of the war lasted from 1939-1945. On the Allies side was the countries of France, Soviet Union, USA, Great Britain, China and Canada. The axis was Germany, Italy and Japan. Once surrender occurred, Europe was left with millions of deaths. Europe had millions of refugees stranded and homeless. Many European had been left in shambles, and infrastructure had been destroyed.
It was generally understood that the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany led to the outbreak. Another major factor to the war was Hitler being appointed to chancellor on January 30th, 1933. Many things such as the great depression and the failure of the treaty of Versailles were left unsolved after World War One.
The course of World War II lasted a brutal six years with an estimated 55 million deaths worldwide. In 1940 Germany invaded Denmark, Norway, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg. During the same year, the Battle of Britain began and Germany faced its first defeat in the skies. On June 6, 1944 the Allied Expeditionary Force landed coast of northern France. June 6, 1944 was later declared as D-Day. Adolf Hitler committed suicide on April 30, 1945 shortly before the fall of Berlin and the surrender of German forces in Europe.
The consequences of World War Two were countless. By the end of the war millions of lives had been lost. In Europe many refugees were homeless and the European economy had crashed. After WWII, the Cold War emerged. The Cold War was a continuing state of political conflict, military tension, proxy wars, and economic competition between the communist worlds. Another effect was the Allies decided to divide Germany into four military occupation zones. The zones were located to French in the southeast, British in the northeast, United States in the south and Soviet in the east. The after affects were brutal, leaving Europe in shreds.
World War II was mainly caused by Germany having the desire to take over the world. Many battles took place during WWII including the Battle of Britain and the Battle of Stalingrad. On June 6, 1944, D-Day was declared. After the war ended, the Cold War began and Germany was divided into four different parts. World War II changed the world, and still has many after affects to this day
